August 2014 - "Even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat."
In a bid to lead a healthier lifestyle, Jen & Martin sell their home on the Scottish Mainland and move to the Outer Hebrides in order to begin their crofting adventure.
After two years of seemingly endless bureaucracy, they gain the tenancy of a croft and begin planning a fruit and veg business.
Despite previous assurances, the application for grant funding is rejected on the basis that "the growing of fruit and vegetables is not a justifiable agricultural use of a croft."
An appeal ensues and politicians from across the spectrum put pressure on the local Rural Payments office.
In October, the decision is reversed and the grant is awarded.
Phase 1 construction works begin.
